Didn't do much for MI during these years with our 1-state recession.

When the agency figures in other factors the cost comes to $193,333 per job created by the incentives, or $44,561 per job if one includes the estimate of "indirect jobs" created.'

Michigan Film Office, refundable tax credits [Michigan Capitol Confidential]

Give me a tax credit that rewards the state with MORE than it costs and I'll stand behind it.
(since I am someone who benefits from the film industry being here...i.e. I get to work more, i have a simple question)

If no film industry - no taxes collected
With film industry - taxes collected and %40 credited back to the industry, giving the state 60%.

How is this costing the taxpayer? 60% of something is more then nothing - am i missing something?.

(not counting all the many indirect benefits of the industry being here)

Most filming only takes a couple of weeks, so "full time" employment counting doesn't make sense, but from what i've worked on, thats 10 to 50 residents working directly, while many others are supporting (catering, stylists, rentals) and the out of town folks are staying in hotels, eating meals and shopping.

Accurate data is still far behind (as many compaines eligible for 'refunds', and counted in the studies, havent received them, but are being credited in the study, as i read it)

But compared to all the money thrown at business's in the past (to stay here or come here) that had less over impact to the state (like Dynamic Captioning LLC will getting a state tax credit valued at $169,629 to encourage the company to permanently locate in Michigan).
