Question Considering Ann Arbor

Thinking about moving to Ann Arbor from Lansing (been here less than 3 yrs). Need to be near specialists (@ hospital). Also need to continue seeking my degree in healthcare. Anyone familiar with campus (family) housing @ UM? Information about schools (middle & elem), AI/ASD services/support groups. I did a little homework myself,...any input, good or bad is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure what AI/ASD is? I'm guessing autism spectrum disorders. If so, send me a private message; my neighbor here in Ann Arbor has a son with this and who gets services through the schools; I can ask her. Family housing at the U. of M. is located on North Campus, off Glazier Way, with bus runs free on the university busline all over campus. The apartments aren't a pretty complex, kind of gloomy looking, really, but are functional. I'm sure the U.of M. can give you more information. You mention needing access to hospitals. I highly recommend St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, which lies between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. They have very good support services and are more family oriented, in my opinion, than the U.of M. Hospital. What is your major in health care? And have you considered Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti? They have some healthcare programs, including a good nursing program, and are cheaper than the U. of M. The Ann Arbor Public School system is a good one, with good quality of education and a lot of extras. Any special services needed can certainly be found in this school system. Washtenaw Intermediate School District is the governing arm for special services in schools throughout Washtenaw County. You can call them at 734-994-8100. Their offices, and High Point School, which serves children with developmental disabilities, are located on Wagner Road between Liberty and Scio Church Roads on the s.w. side of town. High Point's phone number is 734 994-8111.
