Most all your remarks take me back to earlier times , growing up in Iowa. . It was normal to be somewhat prepared all the time, even in summer. back then we had real snow tires, they were called MT or lug, etc. Not the advanced winter tires of today which I use also, I leave them on year round, and buy new every other year. Back then our speed limit was " reasonable and proper according to conditions". It was rare to get a ticket except in some little towns where the cop hid behind a billboard. It was a moneymaker for the town.Everyone soon learned to stay -away from those speed traps.I can remember going 85-90m in an 18 wheeler on I-80, and the state troopers just gave me the high sign !.
