Anyone remember the nice mobile home park that once was on Alter there by the canal?
We are looking for a nice summer place in the city. Last time we were there it was all about stick and brick. Now we are looking at a nice mobile home, possible a double wide, within the city limits (Detroit).
A place where folks care about their neighbors, and the houses are well kept, if not older.

Are there any nice MH parks in the city? We are also considering the Flamingo there in Farmington.

Appears we will have to broaden our search parameters as there is once again very slim pickins in the city. We tried to be involved in the greatest comeback in history--looks like we will have to be satisfied watching from afar.

Is this the place you spoke of? It looks like streets for a MH park - now overgrown.
I think you'll have to look outside the city for MH parks. Must it be very near the city? There are plenty of nice parks elsewhere for "summer homes" in vacation spots of Michigan. Farmington is an area of low crime. I bring it up only because you mentioned the area.

If you're looking for a summer place in the city, criminy, there are about 8 zillion places up for sale for about $100 each. People are buying up multiple lots in Detroit and setting up microfarms. Go for it! And welcome!

I'm not sure why the insistance on a mobile home when regular homes are so cheap, at least in some areas.
Zoning has changed a lot in the last 20 years. Mobile home parks are typically not zoned much in cities anymore, the ones left are grandfathered in.
Are you specifically looking for something on water?
Exactly how do you want be part of what particular area comeback?

Regular housing has TAXES..as a one time ex-resident we will not be elgible for homestead (keeping our place here in NC) and the taxes will kill us. MH has no taxes and all we have is utilities and lot rent.

Since the urban farms are now no longer a viable plan for the city, we thought getting back in with a MH would allow us to be part of the city's rise from the ashes sort of speak.

We would like something within an hour or so of DTW so we could fly in if we wanted to visit family and possibly stay a few weeks in the summer before we set out on our travels from July through August and returning to work here in NC in September through June.
