Ice fishing. Nothing beats sitting on the bucket handlining perch by the dozens on a nice no-wind, sunny day. Well, there is one thing better...sitting in a warm shanty spearing pike that look like cedar fence posts when it's stormy out.

I was just lamenting today about the winter in Southern Illinois. It's dismal! It's cold, but not REALLY cold, so everything just freezes, and thaws out any time the sun shines (which is rarely) and makes all this terrible mud.

There's no snow. So it's cold and dreary, and there's not even any bright pretty white snow to cheer it up. Lame! Makes me miss Michigan

What part are you talking about? I live in the northern part of da U.P. and we don't even have six month winters!!!

Once it hits 45 degrees it's summer weather and I'm wearing shorts and t-shirts!

A fresh coat of snow on the trees and shrubs from last night, and the sun is shining. Beautiful day!

I love anticipating snow storms to a fault. Then when the weatherman is wrong I shake my head and vow to never believe them again.

We have another one moving into the area on Saturday.

Lol...I am the same exact way. We are in a bad spot for big storms this year. Looks like we will have several small clippers coming from canada giving us maybe 4-6" over the next several days, then maybe a few "bigger" storms next week. Anymore, a big storm is 5" around my parts.

I love big storms, any kind of storms but really, really love blizzards. Probably comes from being snowed in tight and no school for a week back in '70-71 as a kid. Send your 5" this way.

The bluegill always taste better in the wintertime.
