Has any one been following the petoskey points project?
I visit harbor springs every couple months and also petoskey, I have been watching this project, for those who do not know it is a multi million dollar project that is supposed to run 125 million and they deconstructed a whole city block and took out the old theater and many stores and apts.
For two years they have created a hole in the ground. I have thought that something is going on here and have read a post here that was saying the same thing.
Any thoughts or does any one have an inside info on this thing?

I have seen this also, there is a fight between the record eagle and news review. the RE says things are not good, with millions in liens and unpaid workers, the NR says everything is fine. but petoskey people are heads in the sand in the first place. they want to be a traverse city but never will.
Ptoskey is a pompous place to be sure. I knew a woman named hellena worked for a title compay there, she was from canada and wanted to run with the big dogs, always corrected people about their english and thought she was hot, other than she had blond hair she was not that hot.
Just an avrage ptown person.

Liens are public information, easy to find the truth. Some counties will have it on the web sites in the equalization section.

I'd love it if they didn't build such a monstrosity. Nothing like coming around the bend from either direction just to stare at what will be some out of place, huge fancy set up.

What I love about Petoskey is the fact that it's still a small town yet it has some bigger town amenities like good restaurants and a good hospital. Don't get me started on the worlds longest nurses strike although if you care to explain the history behind the strike in another thread, that would be cool.

Aren't there enough places in Bay Harbor for all of the people who could actually afford Petoskey Pointe to buy a place? I know some of the places in Bay Harbor are on the market.

It's not that I miss the parking lot and movie theater. It's just that Petoskey Pointe is the last thing I personally would want in that space. Not that they asked me.

This project is dead in the water.
The developers can not be contacted by phone and do not return calls.
They said by fall at the latest construction of steel would begin. We are blown away like Grahamcrackers. They also said that they have "over seas financing" and did not want to release the details. Sounds like hitler in spring time if you ask me.
something is rotten in little traverse bay. The manthi family is involved in this in some way also.
Barnabys store was one of the ones torn down, the up stairs of that store front was one of the coolest apts. I have every seen, granit tops on hickory cupboards and oak floors with a little deck that over looked the bay. Old brick side walls and a neat little green tile stoop that went to a private stairway to the apt. Now a hole in the ground. I think they should put up a monument to stupidity. Here is where greed got the better of us.
