Don't know if anybody here if familar w/ the Garland Golf Resort in Lewiston, Michigan, but it has finally sold. I have a lot of friends and some family that works there.

The owner Ron Otto has sold it to the same people who own Boyne. There is talk of turning Garland into the "Disney Land" of Golf Courses.

I've been telling them they should put in putt-putt golf for the kids!!

Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Thanks for the info! I live in Lewiston, but hadn't heard the news yet. I have many friends who work there, and what a relief it is for them and all of us. If it's not the biggest employer in the area, it's one of them!!!

It's beautiful up there. I had to take a PE course while attending EMU, and decided to go for the golf class. Held at Garland, taught by Rick Smith.

Camped while I was up there.

Nice area.

Rick is a nice guy on top of being a great golfer and designer.

Yes he is, Bydand.

The most important thing that he taught me:

Have fun.

2nd most:

Where your "strong" knee is pointing, that's where the ball is going.

No chit.

He had me hittin' 150 yard shots consistently with my 7 iron on the driving range.

I still putt like %$&^ .

I don't think Mr. Smith can help me with that, as it's all in my head.....

Yeah, it is really great. They are starting to build a new kitchen. They are going to rip out the lap pool beneath the Lounge and put in an arcade room for the kids.

Expanding the bar, new carpet. They already paved the parking lots and some areas you drive the golf carts on.

Pretty good!!

I worked there last year, and you're right, I couldn't believe all the people that work there!!

Basically seems like these are owners that actually care about their employees. They ask for input when it comes to changes and expansion, etc.
