Yes I know. It should be against the law to chain your dog up here. I drive past the same dog down the road from me who has been chained on a 15' chain ever since I moved here 7 years ago. Never ever see him off of it. Sometimes I just wanna sneak down there and let him loose....sad.

That's animal cruelty as far as I'm concerned. I boundry trained my dogs to never leave my property. It's not hard to do, and the dogs live a life never tied on a chain, much less a 15' one. That's awful.

Your right.

All it took for my dog to obey me was LOVE.
Raised on a dairy farm, I naturally love animals, and they naturally love me.
I can walk up to a viscious dog and he'll calm down and let me pet him.

I see no problem with chaining dogs up as long as they're exercised. Chaining our dogs up is the only option we have, we don't have the money it would take to build them seperate fenced-in areas that they couldn't escape from. What really irks me is the people who let their dogs wander around freely to attack people, impregnate people's dogs, get hit by cars, cause accidents, attack other's dogs, etc. All things we've always had to deal with around here because of the same people refusing chain or fence their dogs up. These people who live down the road from us would just let their little dog run everywhere, one day we brought it back to him because he was running around in the road, and the stupid guy did nothing! He wouldn't take the little dog inside, he pretty much just said 'thanks' and shut the door! Ugh! I know this has nothing to do with the thread except that it was mentioned, but I just felt like venting Lol. And no, the dogs we have are not ones we went out and bought knowing we'd have no money for anything else, they're dogs we've had for years and the product of people letting their male dogs run around unrestrained. But anyway, they're still great doggies.

Why can't the owner take the dog for a walk on a leash a few times a day? If you don't have the time or are unable I don't think you should have a dog.
