Caro, MI
Can anyone give me any input on Caro, MI ? I am considering moving there to have room for horses on my own property instead of boarding them somewhere esle. I am married with 2 young kids so schools are important and look good from what I've seen on the web. I am currently working in Southfield but looking for employment further north.

I've never lived in Caro, but been through many times. I used to live in Bad Axe, MI, but all in all, Caro seems to have a nice small town feel to it. Schools have always seemed pretty good. Plenty of real estate at a reasonable price, and you can be as isolated or as close to people there as you want. Seems to have a fair amount of an older population as well (seems like a fair amount of retirees). Also, plenty of good realtors to work with, which is always a plus

I would have to agree with the last post. I live in the metro detroit area now but I lived up by Caro all my life. Marlette to be exact. Caro is a nice little town. Good School and if you are looking for land then thats the place. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Caro is a good choice.
Caro is a nice place to live. The schools are great. Vassar and Reese are also great agricultural areas. They are both closer to shopping (Saginaw and Bay City). My family farms 1300 acres in Vassar and I wish I lived closer. We live in Ohio. You would be happy with either of these threee areas. Vassar and Caro are comparable, Reese is much smaller.

I lived in Caro for most of my childhood...up to 8th grade...My Mom and Dad moved back there several years ago from Florida...I love it there...Caro is a beautiful town...it has grown some...has a wal-mart..etc...it has an awesome grocery store named Veegees that I love...beautiful countryside...and three things that I miss most living here in NC...it has lilacs, raspberries and snow...I personally do not plan to move back there...I want to move to the UP...I love the lakes and trees and rocks and lots of snow....best of luck to you! I think there is plenty of land for your family and your horses...Happy new year!

We live in Reese which is about a 25-30 min drive. In the winter like anywhere in MIchigan it can get bad. M-81 is the main road from Caro to Saginaw, Reese and it is usually not bad. One exception watch the deer. I don't know a lot about their schools jusy Highland Pines which is a SP ED school. The town is very nice but as mamy little towns they are loosing some stores. They have a Walmart which I like better than Saginaw. All in all it is a nice town and I have seen ads for apartments.

I can't say enough about Highland Pines. I have been a Foster Parent and have had several children there. They also in the building house the step program and some testing for early on. I think all teachers should visit there. They really have seen the patience and belief that all children can live in one way or another. I know they have a hard job but they all do with very well. They also have buses for those students who live in Tuscola County.
