Are Muslims Really Practicing- or attempting to practice- Sharia Law in Dearborn, Michigan? (Wayne: to live, dangerous)

I would think that all sorts of Islams in the U.S. are practicing Sharia, legally or illegal practices both. I mean, I think its probably against city ordinances to butcher animals in the city but I bet its happened. Have they tried to pass any Sharia practices as real U.S. law? IDK what's going on everywhere so I don't know. Sometime down the road I wouldn't be surprised.
Maybe you should take this to another forum where you can commiserate with others who hate Christianity as much as you do. It really has zero to do with the original topic here anymore. Surely there are forums for atheists where you can distort Christianity and vent your rage towards Christians amongst each other, aren't there? This has obviously ceased being about Sharia Law to you, and that's what the OP was asking about.
Oh..I "hate Christianity"? As a former long serving Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) altar boy I should probably take offense, but instead I'm amused by and slightly sympathetic to your complete missing of my point and your knee-jerk reaction to it. Have some doubts that need to be compensated for, do we??
The OP was about Sharia, suggesting sinister things, and not much of an extension needed to include ALL religious based laws, is it? Or are we just picking on Islamic law and ignoring the rest?
Sharia is, first and foremost, laws of conduct based on and conforming to religion beliefs. No? If not...please explain to me.
I merely used the same tactics, facts based in literal "truth" but without context, that anti-Islam bigots use every day here in the Land Of The Free. What can you deny about what I said?
Do Christians, most anyway, NOT believe that by taking communion they are consuming the flesh and blood of their savior? Isn't the ritual consumption of human flesh highly suggestive of ritual cannibalism? Explain the difference then. Certainly a literal, simplistic recitation of the facts would lead most to this conclusion. Until they hear it's THEIR religion that's being discussed, of course.
Millions of Christians believe everything in the Bible is literally true. Thus, it's accurate to say that many Christians believe all kinds of crazy things that, given a choice, most Christians would deny and probably abhore. Yet many of those things are clearly stated in Christianity's most holy book, particularly in the Old Testament, and repeated from pulpits every week by fervent believers.
This is no different than some nitwit on TV telling the gullible masses that Muslims are bound by their faith to kill non-believers, that they all believe religious martyrs will be rewarded with 52 virgins, and all manner of other stupid things.
Fine that you jumped to the defense of your religion...but sad that you didn't do so with anywhere near the passion and outrage when another legitimate and widespread religious faith was and is attacked. I'm not even suggesting you are intolerant, bigoted or anything similar. I don't know you, and you did seem to almost dismiss the implications of the OP question and followup. Nor was I spewing hate at the religion that guided much of the development of my life and my mind.
My posts were just holding up the mirror, so the King could see, should he open his eyes, his lack of clothing.
Eyes wide shut?
I sort of see where cosmicrowbar was coming from (perhaps this is a charitable view)...that all religions have beliefs and practices that to non-adherents, could be seen as strange or even oppressive - and no matter what our Constitution says, basic tenets of all religions and common law do overlap at times.
Sharia law is not ALL bad - wiki on Sharia. It's hard to find an unbiased, objective description or discussion of it. It's been quite a long time ago, but I've read the Koran....didn't find it that much different to the Bible, certainly not the Old Testament. In fact the Old Testament is every bit as rigorous, punishment-oriented and anachronistic as the Koran, if anything moreso. But most people don't follow the guidance in the Old Testament to the letter, even fundamentalist Christians. The same goes for Muslims and the Koran.
The saddest part is....... we can't seem to find a half-decent White replacement for Obama.
I saw one just this morning. He was licking himself, then ate some of his own poo then he barked at the mailman. His name is "Rex" and he lives next door. That's a good name for a president, isn't it? President Rex? I hear he's leading by a landslide in various straw polls around here and I live in a mostly Democrat area. He has a pretty simple campaign slogan on bumper stickers around town: "My name is Rex, and I'm running for President".

Someone recently told me Muslims have "taken over" Dearborn, Michigan, and are either actively pursuing the right to practice Sharia Law or have already done so, and Sharia Law in Dearborn has not been challenged by the State of Michigan or by Wayne County.
They claim the Mayor and City Council are Sharia-based; that the City police force is Muslim/Sharia, and that non-Muslims are unwelcome and discriminated against?
Any part of this true?
And what happened is that in Detroit, they made a new law forbidding Christians from passing out Christian literature anywhere near Muslims because Christian literature offends Muslims, they never want to see it.
Some Christians passing out literature like some Christians have always done, and it's been considered free speech up until now, were arrested.
Captured on video -- just some free speech that is no longer allowed. Watch and make up your own minds, should this have gotten this guy arrested and brought about a law forbidding what he was doing? And liberals, keep in mind that you may hate Christians with all your might, but pro-homosexual rights speech, pro-birth control speech will enrage Muslims even more than this.
I don't care for the bible-beaters handing out literature or knocking on my door, so I'm for the law but not for it's logic. Islam isn't the only major non-Christian religion in the US - what about offending Jews?

Part of freedom of speech means others might be offended by that speech or not really want to hear it.
It's a sure good thing the Muslims didn't start arriving back when those Hare Krishnas were passing literature out at the airports. That would have freaked them.
You can always tell the Jehovah Witness guy at your door to go away, you don't need them being thrown in prison.
Religious freedom means exactly that -- the government is supposed to stay out of it, and that includes the overly sensitive Muslims who are so afraid someone might come along and convert them.
Um - try reading the article again. Speaking out against the BAN of a CODE OF RELIGIOUS CONDUCT like "Christian law" neither of which can supplant US law.
You can come out from under the bed.
Well, frankly it would appear the ones who replied to her query seemed more ready to create a problem with what she said. I too have heard the same thing she has and arrived at this website for answers or thoughts on the matter. She, like me probably couldn't visit to check out the city due to financial problems. An easy answer would have been "NO, it's not true." Then a few thoughts on the matter would have clarified the answer. Sometimes a question is just a question, silly or not and it deserves a polite answer. Thank you all. Jeri Atkin
