I really think it just depends on where you live, here in Monroe they are generally timed pretty well where you can make it through town without stopping. Some of the lights have sensors as well... I learned that when a guy didn't pull up far enough and I sat at a light for over 5 minutes because he wouldn't pull up any further, as soon as he did after excessive honking, the light turned very quickly

It does give us a chance to sit for a few minutes at each light to enjoy our beautiful state, I'm sure that's what the engineers had in mind for us!
