Think GREEN.. its our way out. By taking the initiative , as the forerunner of new energy development , Michigan could lead the nation. Many years ago , Michigan was a leader in Space race development products , and later on , environmental equipment. We can do it again. I can't think of a better state that has so much to gain , and lose with all our natural resources . .... Throw in tourism , which will always be the leader, and you have the makings of a great Midwest leader State , that can , if it wants too , be on the leading edge of what the 21st century will become......We just got to roll up our sleeves and , get it done !
Its time to forget the old ways of doing things, the complaining , the set in our ways of a typical rust belt place. We need to make a "world car" for a change , not just pie in the sky iron dreamed up by marketing types. Michigan , could be a world leader , an exporter , in a Country that has for far too long only imported consumer goods , mostly from China. Its time to turn the tables, it won't be easy , it will require sacrifices , on the part of us all . The old ways are gone forever , lets stop thinking they will come back , and , get busy !!

The fact that people actually voted for something other than the bottom choice makes me sad. there wil always be people who want to live in Michigan. It truly is a great state! There are a lot of kinks that have to be worked out but I think with all of the tax incentives and such we have to be going in the right direction, no?

There was not a choice for my idea.

Namely, the banks and other absentee owners of foreclosed, boarded up, abandoned houses in Michigan can swap theirs one for one with similar ones who have dead properties in California.

I live in Georgia and I think I would do just fine in Michigan's winters. Snow is good for playing in.

Hmmm, I think we should deny all great lakes water rights to the rest of the country. Then when the Colorado river and Lake Mead runs dry.........

water rights have started a lot of wars.... The thing is , as long as we have snow , we will have water.
Question is..... who does the water belong too ? Those far away down stream , or folks who live at or near the water source. Hydro (water power electric ) , same thing. The best rates go to the largest users , and , they are rarely near the dam. It is a criminal shame how the Utility conglomerate conspired to close down all the small Hydro plants around the country. Trying to start a closed turbine back up , is more than a up hill battle. I have a friend who is doing just that , and , is showing a profit now , after a lot of hard years work.

I had no idea there were untility conglomerates closing down the small hydro plants. This is part of what I call greed. As for your friend, that is good for him. He can be part of the revival of Michigan.

That is SOOO funny. Man, you can send me cash too, I will help them get more population too. Thanks for the link. As for Michigan, I think one of my friends is actually going back. My best friend moved here in 6th grade with her family, now she is getting married to a man who spent his whole life there. They will be returing to Michigan shortly after the wedding. Who knows, maybe they will help repopulate the state after the rest of you leave. ; )
