Still some color hanging around in this part of the state (mixed with lots of bare trees). Drove some back roads between Kalamazoo and Lansing today and took a few pics:

Looks like a nice day on the river. Come on over and give the Pere Marquette River in this area a try next Fall. The run is earlier (Kings started coming into the river system mid-Sept this year) and lasts longer (Still taking them... but they are pretty skanky by now). Plus the river is narrower so you can cover a bigger percentage of the river and increase your odds of putting the lure over a fish that wants it yet. I LOVE fall salmon fishing and would spend every single morning in the Fall on the river if I could.

Nope! I have no connection to that site or the photographers whatsoever. I just like to plug the photos and the website, because they are beautiful pictures of Michigan, and it fits right in with what people like to see on this forum.

My day on the Muskegon was definitely the highlight of fall for me! I can thank my father-in-law for getting me "hooked" on salmon fishing! I think I will suggest the Pere Marquette to him for next year!

This is my very first fall in U.P. and it's by far the most gorgious fall I've ever had. Now I know what people are talking about. The beauty is beyond words! I just wish it lasted longer. It seems the foliage began to show colors in mid to late Sep, and peaked around late Sep to beginning October, and since then the color has been declining and wind picked up. I felt I was in heaven for two weeks, then now I begin to feel a bit sentimental/ nolstagic...

Thank you for introducing us to that website. It gives inspiration especially as to the composition of pictures. I can't believe they took those pictures with some regular cameras. Meanwhile, I can see he manipulates his pictures a lot.

I didn't know salmon could be that huge!

My hubby has been trying to learn fish and hunt. He especially wants slmon. He invested in all the equipments... well, so far no return yet. I really hope he can get some fish and deer, which will make him feel accomplished for sure, and cut my grocery bill.
