Default Relocating to St. Joseph area soon.

I have accepted a new position with a company in St. Joseph, and am relocating soon. Can anyone tell me the best places to live in that area, and is this a nice place? From what I have seen traveling in for interviews, it seems really nice. Is there any nightlife? Is this community friendly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Community is very friendly, plenty to do ( while more to do in the summer then winter). Don't let people start scaring you on Benton Harbor being next door.
Nightlife wise, you have a bunch of establishments downtown to chose from, live music at Czar's ( local bands, Chicago bands, dance club times as well). I also enjoyed Barney's boathouse as well. Check out sjtoday.org for a listing of places to eat, events. You'll love it in the summer. Train is not far from chicago as well, and your a 20 minute drive to the new casino in New Buffalo. If you can afford it, try getting a house on Lake Michigan drive. =)

Thank you deslok for your information. I am looking forward to my new life in michigan. I am pleased to see positive information on the area, and welcome anyone else to chime in. I will me moving on 8/26 to temporary housing and starting my new job on 8/27. I will check out housing on Lake Michigan Dr., I am not sure that I found that area when I was in town for my interviews. Sounds nice to live near the lake. It really is a beautiful lake.

Buy a boat! You'll be right on the lakeshore with access to the St. Joseph River (marinas-a-plenty) and Lake Michigan (more water than you'll know what to do with).

There's a great selection of beaches nearby and you'll be only 90 minutes from Chicago.

If you have kids the school system is top-notch (as are some neighboring systems).

My wife and I are relocating to St. Joe or Stevensville from Augusta Ga. It's too hot here, been here for 25 years and this is the last year for us. We will be looking for houses that are FSBO. Any good ones around $175,000, please let me know.
thanks
jerry
