Default Occupy the UP and the Coffee Party?

This past week-end there was the first organized protest here in Marquette. After a few block walks the ended by surrounding the Wells Fargo Bank.
All this seem right on schedule, as same has been happening all around the State., and the works for that matter. Question is , some said they were from the " coffee party", what ever that is , while others were from" Occupy the UP" group . The strange thing was they were all chanting " down with Obama"....seems very strange to me. I thought it was all about the fat cat bankers and Wall Street?.. Of coarse the 1 per cent is included also in the protest. I have to wonder if all the protesters are on the same page? What do you think about what is going on in Michigan, both upper and lower ?

They have no idea what they are doing. They just want to walk around and chant whatever they are told to and hopefully get on TV. If you want they will chant "Stop petting calico kittens." instead. If you did not have to be at work, wouldn't you like to walk around and chant and be on TV? You could even hold up a "Save the Walruses" sign.

I do agree on some of what you say, however , the mostly young people on Wall Street are serious, I do believe we are in for a revolution.....I just want to be on the winning side( as long as its somewhat liberal that is lol)
The class warfare thing is really bad.when it comes to the 1 percent. I have seen this before in other countries......there is just too much disparity between whats left of the middle class and those folks that are swimming in cash. I see it every day. Companies are letting loose some capital. We are in the distribution of million dollar machines. We can't get them out the door fast enough! So....these are good times for me, but , I am still concerned
about the future of our republic.

capitalism doesn't work well with greed...i believe we are in for a revolution too.
to say they can't pick a cause angers me, the gov't has done so many lies, corruptions, injustices, they've allowed more than just banks to screw us over. pick ONE? THERE'S TOO MANY TO CHOOSE!!!!

well if they left and were chanting "down with Obama," you have to wonder if they have any idea what a Perry Gov't would bring them.

The essence of pure unregulated capitalism is profit at all costs - nothing else taken into account. Not environment, public welfare, - nothing. Monopoly is the ultimate end because mergers increase power and control. That's what "regulation" is to prevent.
Anybody think that a single unregulated oil company in control of oil production, would in any way be good? It could hold the world hostage.
Yet some say that competition is automatic in a "free market" - good luck getting a loan for your mom & pop startup oil company from a Wall Street bank (and later find out you want to merge anyway).

Very good words. I would think it would be very hard to dispute, if people are willing to tell the truth and leave out partisan politics. One of the reasons I like Ron Paul, not his politics , but his honesty.
Your comments are a very good example of history and what it should tell us now , today. Its all happened before. Not sure we are on topic here anymore , but a good post anyway.

I don,t think many of the protesters care ether way. They are tired of boring Politics. They want revolution ! Could be a lot like the " Arab Spring" movement no one knows yet if its , " Be careful what you wish for" kinda thing. One thing most of us DO know, the system is broken as it is now.

You're right about Ron Paul - he's a charmer, but he glosses over some stuff.
Maybe he should go to one of the demonstrations and spell out his TOTAL platform for all to hear.

Absolutely agree.

I was intrigued by Ron Paul, then looked up what his is all about per his website... While he is honest, he isn't completely forthcoming with his message. There are a lot of gray areas that need a little more explanation for the better of the country. On a personal note, there are some ideals that I don't agree with.

"Coffee Party" - haven't heard anything about them.

My biggest beef with the Occupy groups is the lack of distinct message. The individuals interviewed near me were not well educated on WHY they were out there --- they were just out there because they wanted to be on tv. If there was a clearer message, the groups might be taken a little more seriously. I understand the gist behind the movement ... but, the biased media is making the parcipants out to be uneducated, tree hugging do gooders with no focus.
