Default Is Ann Harbor the best university town?

Is Ann Harbor the best university town and markedly superior to East Lansing?

Bridgett is on a distinguished road
Now is a good time to move to Ann Arbor because of the massive amount of homes on the market. Normally this area is very expensive but with Michigan's very slow economy people are desperate to sell. The property taxes are very high. Try looking for homes that are in Pittsfield Twp (still Ann Arbor),or Northfield Township. If you have kids then you want Ann Arbor or Ann Arbor Twp. If not and you want some land with your home try Northfield Twp which is 10 minutes north of Ann Arbor. I lived in this area for 20 plus years. It is a very nice area with a variety of things to do however, when there is a football game in town (Uof M) don't go near the city; this town lives for their football.

thanks to both of you for that info. I strongly suspected Ann Arbor is a much nicer university town than East Lansing and you both confirmed it.

any major going industries in or close to Ann Arbor?

That's funny.
I don't think there's any major industries in A2, it's pretty much centered around the Uni. Unlike Lansing which is the state capital - politics is certainly a major industry...

AA and East Lansing are 2 totally different towns. I have been to both for business and pleasure. I have tailgated both MSU and UM.

MSU has a beautiful campus and a true college atmosphere with the Spartan Stadium in the middle of the campus.

At UM, you will need to tailgate either at Pioneer High or at the golf course. The Michigan Stadium is located off campus to the south of the main campus.

Both cities has unique shops and restaurants. You really can't compare the 2 towns.

I studied at MSU for about a week during a Mortgage Bankers Assoc. school and pretty much stayed on campus throughout. It seemed nice even though it was during the winter and cold there. Haven't been to the U of Mich. yet to compare but others who have been there have said great things about it.

My Dad owned a business in Ann Arbor for 43 years and I worked there for 5 myself.
One thing to consider is Ann Arbor's proximity to Detroit. If you are a sports fan, this is a big advantage. I would go for Ann Arbor. In fact if I ever move back to MI, that is probably where I would live.

I lived in Ann Arbor for 4 years of college (went to Univ. of Michigan). Absolutely love it there and still go to football games (I have season tickets).

It's a gorgeous place It's one of the best places to live all-around in Michigan IMHO
