Default vacation in calumet

I'm going on a extended weekend vacation with friends to the Calumet area and want to know of some cool places to go. It doesn't have to be something huge, we're easily entertained Just anything within like 45 min./hour or less from that area.

The drive from Calumet to Copper Harbor has some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. You can tour the Quincy Mine in Hancock. If you like microbrews, there are some brewpubs in the area (2 in Houghton and 1 in Calumet, in 2006). Michigan Tech will probably be mostly closed this weekend, but there might be a football game or something going on.

The Delaware Mine is another good tour - it's up near Copper Harbor. Douglas Houghton Falls near Lake Linden are quite beautiful.

You may want to try the Copper Harbor area. It's about an hour away from Calumet. If you are into the beauty of nature then a trip down 26 (turn left at Phoenix) to Eagle River and on through to Eagle Harbor (there's a nice little resturant in town, good food!) Take that all the way to Copper Harbor. A ride suited for introspection.
