Man... I am so glad that I'm not a police officer. I would lose my sanity after a couple of days dealing with the anti-authority crowd.

I guess cops don't need to follow the laws based on the speeds I see MSP cars traveling at.

Seems like you are changing the subject to deflect attention from the fact that Bydand basically put an end to all controversy on the original post. The cop had a right to pull the OP over. The end.

Cops who speed is a subject for another thread. Seems pretty obvious that you aren't a fan of law enforcement. And that's OK. This is America, after all.

See previous comment about there being too many laws and the police being able to pull you over at any time because you can be in violation without even knowing it. The problem isn't really with the police but with the legislature and the lawyers. The police just use all of the legal insanity to do what they wouldn't ordinarily be able to do.

The reason for stopping you was your violation of the above law.

Just tell the cop you were having car trouble and pulled over.

I don't know... that doesn't seem like an obscure law. Pretty much everyone knows that you're not supposed to hang out on the side of the road for no reason. We might have too many laws, but that one is pretty much common sense.

I know, right? And not knowing the law is never an excuse for violating it. What is one to do? Read about every law and reread each year for updated and added laws?

Like another posted said, they can always find a reason to justify pulling anyone over.

So, you are saying it shouldn't be illegal to park on the shoulder of a freeway? I suppose it should be legal to park in front of fire hyrants as well?

Authority is OK, it is the abuse of power by the authorities that create a problem.

If it's an emergency or you have car trouble then yes.
