Question Visiting Dexter , MI.

I am visiting Dexter, MI in either Feb. or April. I am looking for a small town with festivals (street fairs, markets, etc.) but also with a city near by if we want to go out at night. I saw that Ann Arbor was close. I am bringing my sister there for her 30th birthday. I have been online for days looking up stuff to do but i am very overwhelmed. I was just looking for suggestions of things to do or even if there is a better place in MI to go and which month is better. She is a school teacher and is looking to get pregnant soon so it would have to be in either of those months or possably the end of June. It is a surprise so it is up to me to plan the whole trip. Anything will help me right now! Thanks

There are theaters and museums in Ann Arbor; plenty of avenue type shopping; Briarwood Mall; movies; restaurants; night life, etc. April would be warmer than February, and there is a less possibility of snowfall at that time. Please do not rule out a freak snowstorm anytime in April; this has happened many times. Dexter is a smaller town with some good restaurants that have opened this past year and some cute stores are in on the very small Main Street. It does have monthly weekend events but usually not until sometime in April. The last weekend event of the year in Dexter is Victorian Days, held in early December. I don't know where you're visiting from so please be advised that from late December through March can be very cold here. The Purple Rose Theater (founded by actor Jeff Daniels) in Chelsea, just west of Dexter, is open year-round if you're interested in seeing a play. Dexter is a nice place to visit during the day or warmer months but does not have any night life or much entertainment. You will not fill up an entire day visiting here. You could call or possibly email the Chamber of Commerce in these towns for more information. Check out their websites. Dexter does have a nice brochure put out by the C of C. Hope this was helpful.

Chelsea and Dexter are Ann Arbor satellites/exurbs. Downtown and westside Ann Arbor have things to do.
