Government Shut-Down????
So, I heard on the news today wayyyyy out here in Las Vegas that as of Oct. 1 Michigan will have a government shut down if Granholm doesn't get her tax increases. Can it get any worse? It really is sad to see what is happening to my home state.

Let it shut down. We'll save money. Don't you worry one bit in the Dust Bowl.

The only people the shut down will hurt are the Smokers, Drinkers and Gamblers so if you don't use who cares, I sure don't and as for other State functions I don't use them either. Way to Go Jenny!!!! TAKE a Pay cut Gov!

There's already a topic for this:

Minnesota went through the same thing a year or two ago, and so did California (anyone remember Governor "Gray-Out" Davis in California?).
Buy your lotto tickets and booze before it's too late!

If "brown outs" are useful in NY and LA during heat waves, maybe a yearly 2 week "brown out" would be effective for MI's debt situation. This includes requiring those elected officials going on leave on days that the budget is not being resolved.
If we shut down most of the non-essential services for 2 weeks every year and gave the workers time to visit the rest of Michigan and spend some of their $ in state, we have a win / win situation developing with an increase in overall state pride.
It is too bad that Hilary Junior really is a lame duckette and cares little for the state of Michigan.

I heard she's eyeballing some land up on Echo Bay in Ontario - soon to follow the rest of the folks OUT of the state. (Not soon enough, I fear...)

This is a nightmare.
35,000 state workers without jobs.
I do not know how these clowns from Lansing sleep at night.

they said they are leaving 200 state police officers to cover the entire state...
state parks are closed.
draw bridges are said to be set to up, this could be interesting in some areas.
I'm trapped in this mix.
