The winter is going to be tough, I feel the lack of sun will bother you more than the frigid temps and snow.

Honestly, the snow helps with the winter darkness. It is reflective and white and pretty, and if you can deal with the amount of it you'll be alright. The city is prepared for winter (it happens every year ), so as long as you have snow tires on your car and a shovel (or a snowblower if you're smart) for your own driveway, then you'll be fine.
And, as you'll be arriving in July, you'll have a chance to get to know the area and enjoy the summer before the cold hits. It's the summer months that really make it worth staying.

If you are scared of the lack of sun...just wear polarized sunglasses.

the purpose of polarized sunglasses is to reduce glare caused by the Sun and other forms of light reflected from polarizing surfaces such as water, therefore with minimal sun (as in Marquette winters) there is less need for polarized sunglasses.

I don't understand what you mean because I'm not sure how polarized sunglasses would help anyone where the sun is lacking..
