Default Most scenic places in Michigan

What are the most majestic places in Michigan? I plan to visit in a few weeks and already have a few landmarks on my to see list but could anyone help me compile a list of the most beautiful places to see on either peninsula, as I will be traveling through both.

Almost anywhere along the northern coast of the UP. The Keweenaw. Sleeping Bear. Of course you have to do a drive through of Detroit.

I'm sure there are very pretty places in areas of Detroit, but I don't think I would want to drive through the other areas just to find out, lol

Sleeping Bear Dunes which is along the shore of Lake Michigan. If you really want a beautiful tour travel the length of a road called M22. Don't miss a stop in the town of Leland and Glen Arbor. Traverse City is also wonderful. In general you can't go wrong in the northern LP along the western side which runs by the shoreline. The Manitou Islands are another feature around Leland.

Any road that goes near a big lake and you can get a view is very scenic. Up the west coast to the tip of the lower peninsula would be an amazing drive for you...of couse making a stop at Sleeping Bear Dunes (The most beautiful place in the country)! The East side along Lake Huron is amazing as well. If you are close to River Road that goes along the Au-Sable River and all the lookouts is one of the most scenic areas in all of Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge is a must see...park near it and walk up to it from the beaches. Driving over the bridge is an unforgettable view, and once your in the U.P....The Tahquamenon falls are a must see...upper and lower falls. The Soo Locks, and Whitefish Point are must see's, as is Pictured Rocks. Driving all along Lake Superior (where you can) from the Soo...to Wisconsin including anywhere in the Keweenau Peninsula...making a drive up Brockway Mountain, are all MUST-SEE'S especially if you dont think you will be able to make a return trip. Porcupine Mountain and Lake of the clouds, there are just too many things to see. There are over 300 waterfalls in the U.P. most are pretty awesome. I could go on and on...but thats a start.
Lake Superior is in itself something that everyone should see and feel at least once if they come to Michigan. Its a magical place, that will leave you with a new outlook on life...and wanting more. Think I'm kidding about that one??

You could literally spend your 2 weeks in the Traverse City/Leelanau area and not even come close to seeing all the awesome scenic areas. Have fun!

Sleeping Bears Dunes, Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Leelanau Peninsula~keep going north through Charlevoix, Petosky, Harbor Springs and up to Mackinaw City. Take your time, stop often, walk around the town, village. Truly beautiful.

Why not? Boston Edison, Pewabic Pottery, Eastern Market, drive on Woodward. There are many sights to see. Bring a large flash drive for your camera.

I was driving on Joy on Tuesday (from Linwood to Outer Drive) and wish I would have had my camera with me.
