I have lived in St. Louis, Missouri all my life and i have a friend who moved to Lansing, MI about 2 years ago and he loves it. He is also from St. Louis. He has a job and everything. He says its not like living in St. Louis. He couldn't find a job here in St. Louis but he found on there really fast. So I am gonna move there in June 2008 with my daughter and we are really looking forward to the move.

I have lived in Lansing for more than 20 years and while it has much to offer, one of the things that are in short supply now are jobs . . . and we are losing more every day. It may not be as bad as SL, but I think most people on this message board would recommend you have a job FIRST before you move. On the plus side, the cost of housing is one of the lowest in the nation and, except for an unexplained jump in murders this year (16 so far, as opposed to 8 all of last year) crime is typically not an issue. But, the state is also having budget problems and it may eventually affect the quality of education your daughter might receive.

I wouldn't do IT! More people are leaving Lansing and MI altogether because of the shortage of jobs. I lived there for 30 years, but even I could not do it anymore and moved to Tennessee. The job market down here is awesome and the rent is unbelieviably CHEAP! Take MichiganBob's advice and make sure to find a Job first, you could end up trapped, it's that easy! Good Luck
