I left 2 yaers ago due to the fact that I am gay and the small minded people in Allen and Coldwater would not accept my way of life.

I am not gay but that said there are the usual suspects, I.E.[religous idiots] who want to tell every one else how to live. I would rather live in a gay comunity than a fundamentalist one by a mile.
I know those who have the "if I see them I will beat them up" mentality, I always wounder if they have some latent homosexual feelings they are trying to cover?
I just plain am not interested in that kind of sex but I also feel what goes on behind closed doors is your business,Why can not people just live and let live?

Yeah, I loved the movie Fargo!
I too wouldn't have thought of Rhode Island. I thought Providence was becoming an inexpensive alternative to Boston.

It's definitely was about 2 - 3 years ago. Actually a lot of retirees were thinking about there because it was more cosmopolitan that than some other retiree spots. I guess there rethought there decisions. Also RI did have a lot of speculators that really drove of prices for awhile. My guess is that a lot people did what people in Ma did. Say screw it and left town.
On ND. Check the the towns website where my father stays in the summer.

I'm of mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I love Michigan and want to see the state get out of its economic problems and do well.
On the other hand I think its already too crowded and am perfectly happy to see the population shrink and leave the winter water wonderland natural and beautiful.
Its hard to believe that population has shrunk when traffic on I-94 has gotten much worse year after year. And going up north on weekends gets more and more miserable.

Michigan has no appeal to the younger generations in the United States. Myself and my girlfriend, 26 and 25 respectively, will be leaving Michigan for Houston Texas next year. The warmer climate, newer construction, and cheaper cost of living are just a few of the reasons we are leaving (politics, unions, government, employment, area growth, lack of a 'real' city, could go on all day).
I will be selling my company, house, and rental houses next year. I see no future here, at least not the future that I want. I speak for many others that I know of in my generation that have already left.

Much, not Many
I'm not too worried b/c I think MI needs new blood - get rid of some of the tucky in Michitucky. It's destined to happen as Detroit shakes off its rust belt past. There are a bunch of 30-somethings in my block and neighborhood who have moved in during the last several years - all open-minded, college-educated with white-collar jobs. I'll take one of these families over five hate-mongering, ignorant families any day.
