It might cripple things or it might free us up to throw away the crutch that is the failing auto industry.

That is throwing out the baby with the bath water.
In this country we need transportation, but the problem is the usa auto makers keep trying to push big gas guzzling cars, instead of working on hybreads, or new tecnology.
Toyota is years ahead of us, We need a governemnt that is not tied to big oil and that taxes people who buy big gas guzzling cars.
We need a polocy of reducing how much oil we need to run each day.
atomic electric plants, clean burning coal, advancments on solar power, governemnt incentives on buying and building High efficent homes and cars.
We as a country reward this notion that "I worked hard, so it is my right to buy an excursion or hummer, and build a 10k SQ foot home." Maybe but you will be taxed on it very hard for doing so. Or you should be.
The Rush Limbaugh thought that we need to use more natural resources is so stupid as to not deserve responding to.
This country is so out of wack, that when west europe has started to grow up, we are still cutting our teath.
every industrial nation has national health care, when GM spends 2500$ of each car built on health care but toyota spends 250, something is wrong.
The neocon's say "why should I pay for my neighbors health care? Because we live in a society, and as such, the fire dept. does not sit down and figure out if it is profitable to respond to your home burning down before they come to help, nor does the dispatcher at the police dept. figure out Nope you are to far away, we can not respond to your rape, Have you tried one of the social help lines?

Bay, I go farther, I do not even think Jesus even existed excpet in the minds of the people who created him.
Jesus of naz. has never been seen in any writings out side of the bible. and Jesus was such a common name, it is like some one saying smith rose from the dead and a thousand years from now some one finding a home with smith on the door. Odds are not the same smith.
It is time for this counrty to let go of god.
let go of trickel down economics, and other bad ideas.

Wow, this thread went to hell in a handbasket in a short time. Just a few questions to the whole batch of 1 and 2 post new people - then I'll add my answers right after, so try to keep up alright. Did you read the whole thread, or just spout off your drivel without any background? - my bet, didn't read the whole thing, and will not bother either. "ADD HOMONYM" - dude, use a spell check at least. White collar workers are the stupid ones? - I know of very few line rats who would know one end of a spreadsheet from the other. (I am also a blue collar worker, so that argument doesn't fly here) For ANY big business to make it you need both side of the equation. A line rat in the world of big business would be eaten alive and the company would founder and die in a matter of months; an executive would be so far out of place on the line, it would be sad to watch (funny, but sad.) What has the Bible to do with anything posted before? - Not a thing. Nobody was questioning others belief or non-belief, so that is a crap argument to prove your unsupported position.

Man the Trolls are out in force today.

Bydand is proof that blue collar, white collar, whatever collar...there are intelligent people in all groups. Nicely put, and I totally agree. You always need both sides for a big business to make it.

Default Michigan loosing people

I agree this thread has lost its way.
Michigan is loosing people and as it does it looses more of its economy.
People that leave take with them their buying power.
They purchase if nothing more the things that are needed for day to day life. and they take it to other states.
This will impact the local mom and pop gas station, or wal-mart.
But it does impact and at the levels we see people leaving the state, it is going to have a great impact on our economy.
Nothing I can see will turn things around for several years.
Anything can happen in that time.
All we can do it to hope that they will, I would say we need to work to make it happen, but there is not much any of us can do. The few who can only want to fight among themselvs and argue over taking up taxes.
I was just told how bad things are getting in florida and they are getting over 1200 people a day moving in.
The economy in Orlando is taking a big hit. Second homes are on the rocks every where right now.
I was told that Missouri and Arkansas are still doing well in the home building and selling dept. right now., but how long this will last who knows?

I would like to say to those of you who pulled themselfs up by your boot straps and put yourself through College, Good for you! I had a chance to do something with my life at age 17 years old, I could have takin the train to Toronto and played Hockey for a living or I could hang out with my so called Friends and have fun, well I chose to take the low road with my friends and it cost me 4 years of my life. I did my time and when I hit the streets I didn't look back, I left that far behind me, It's been 28 years now and I have worked hard at running my small business for 22 years, I don't have a Business degree I learned on the job, trial or error, As for going to college I applied for grants only to be turned down, So no big deal I did my best to make it work and to support my wife and two children, Well my kids are now 22 and 25 years old, They can't afford college I can't afford to pay for them to go. so they will be part of the working class. All I was trying to say was that these TAXES will hurt SMALL BUSINESS and most people don't care if we go under that's all. I have to make sure my companys BUDGET is Balanced otherwise I'll be out in the streets, The people in Lansing DO NOT CARE about the people of Michigan other wise they would have taken a PAY CUT everyone else has had to cut back, Why is it the people in Lansing DON"T HAVE TO TAKE A PAY CUT, I mean I don't make $91,000.00 a year to sit on my azz! I have to do estimates, do the repairs, do the clean up , the final billing, pay the bills and all the other Office things that have to be done. I do it and I make it work when the phone rings that is a good thing, It's when you see No money coming in and everything going out to make the ends meet, With these Taxes it will just make it even harder. So Thanks for the HIGH TAXES, Cause in a few more months they will be asking for more money you watch and see.

Default People leaving Michigan

When the car companies were giving out train tickets to southerns they never thought about how the city of Detroit or Michigan was going to handle all the people moving there.Car companies bought city trains and shut them down making things more problematic.Car companies employ less and less of the people they shipped to Michigan.People are leaving but that's not a problem, they are filling jobs that need them in other states and less competition for the ones who are staying. As long as we keep the things that really matter like Universities,Museums,Enviroment, etc. And we need to stop being loyal to Car companies who cause a large amount of problems for Michigan and don't care about the workers or citizens of the State.

I live in California - you can get a job but LOL on buying a house. I live in a midget house and could not buy it again today! all places have drawbacks.
