Lightbulb Buying a home in Milford, MI

We are looking to buy a home in Milford, MI. Just like most home buyers, I've been scouring the web and waiting for new listings to come up. However, I recently spoke to a former resident about find homes for sale in Milford. She said that there are times where homeowners choose not to list their homes and just let their realtor know that their home is for sale. Also, she said that if you really like a house, that it is a good idea to let that homeowner know in case they are ever looking to sell. Both of these things seem odd to me, but has anyone had any experiences or feedback about this?

We are serious buyers and have already been pre-approved by the bank. If anyone is thinking about selling their house in Milford or know of any friends that are thinking about moving, please let me know. If you refer a friend and we end up purchasing the home, we could work out a commission of some sort. Also, if anyone has any feedback about buying homes in Milford, let me know. We would really appreciate it!

I don't know much about the real estate market, but Milford is a beautiful town. It has the small-town feel, but is also not too far from bigger areas like Novi and Ann Arbor. It also has many great restaurants that depending on where you live, could even be within walking distance of your house.

If your family is interested in living on a lake, there are also residential lakefront communities close by as well. One that comes to mind is Lake Sherwood, about 5 miles from Milford.

Just be aware that only licensed Michigan real estate brokers can receive commissions. A small gift might be appropriate, though.

It's not very common for homeowners not to list their houses if they hope to sell using a broker. Besides, brokers need written and signed listing agreements if they expect to get a commission. Oral real estate agreements are not enforceable.

Sorry, I don't know of anyone in Milford looking to sell...but good luck in your search.
