After living in Ca. over 30 years, except for the mountains, I've never driven in snow.
They would'nt let you go up in the mountains without chains on your tires.
It gets icey here in OK. So I found an old abandon grocery store parking lot to practice in.

When you get stuck you go forwards and reverse and shack your weight and the car back and forth and most of the time that will get you out. If you have 4x4 just because you can go faster doesn't mean you can stop faster, so be careful don't dart around other drivers. Also you have to drive like you have an egg under the pedal to prevent yourself from sliding or burying the tires sometimes. That's some basics in a nutshell. Also #1 thing to remember, DO NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL in the winter, there is the possibility of black ice, snow, ice, etc and it will cause you to loose control if you aren't careful when the vehicle looses traction then tries to speed up.

Default Fall colors and Sunsets

Michigan truly does have a balanced four seasons. I spent 14 years (1966-1980) in Western Michigan before joining the Air Force. Since then, I’ve spent winters in Idaho, Texas, and Florida, not to mention Korea, England and Germany. While I reside in Alaska, here, nor do the aforementioned locales have the brilliant fall colors Michiganders enjoy. Also, no locale has such brilliant sunsets (I lived 30 miles from Lake Michigan in Oceana County). Enjoy your winter - Alaska's is a considerably darker and colder, although there's no place I'd rather live.

I'll have to say, Oklahoma doesn't have the fall colors that Michigan does.
