Im sure those numbers are true but since the countries are not even close to the same size in population that data is completely meaningless to what was being talked about.

When he said more Canadians own guns - he was refering to the fact that 70% of Canadian households have firearms.

Where do you get the 70% figure? What I can find is that about 7% of the population own firearms. According to the Canadian Gov't there were 2.3 million firearm owners in Canada in 2000 (most recent I can find) (Embassy Washington). For that same time period there were 31.021 million Canadians according to their census : (Population and growth components (1851-2001 Censuses)) that works out to just over 7%, not 70%. I would be more than happy to look up where you found that figure because what I found seems really low numbers to me.

I think it may have come from Moore's gun film but he got it from some other source (probably Canadian government or some kind of social study/survey that was conducted)... either way this whole thing started cause someone was making the mistake of thinking guns are banned in Canada or something which is just ridiculous.

You bet they are...... I had a friend who tried to enter Canada , and , they found a hand gun in his glove box. I was behind in another vehicle. Was that a nightmare !... after 6 hours , he was sent back south , baned forever from entering , and , I, by association of knowing him , was given Canadian citizenship .......( 30 day visa....and 350.00 on my mastercard )......

LOL

Yeah its all cause guns are totally banned in Canada and nothing at all to with the fact that he is a foreign citizen (hes not a Canadian) that tried bringing a LOADED, CONCEALED HANDGUN ACROSS AN INTERNATIONAL BORDER
.. Should they have waived him through? Would the US do that? Is he an FBI agent? What kind of idiot beings a weapon through a border crossing? Thats 'Going across the border to Canada 101' the legality on either side of the border is irrelevant - You dont bring knives, you dont bring guns, you dont bring a pipe or ANY amount of weed no matter how small.. if they find this stuff.. they send you back and BAN YOU.

If you have even a DWI you get turned away at the border and barred from re-entry.

My friend was dumb , no doubt about it., And , I was dumb for waiting around in the immigration office for him. ( I had already been cleared ) , but , thats what friends do , sometimes..... When I went to leave , after an hour or more , the automatic locks triggered , ......and , it was my turn........ You may be wrong about the Pot however. My friend had left some stuff in my Motorhome.......they did not care about that........only GUNS , its a big no no, in Canada. ( The gun was in a vintage car , seldom driven , in a trailer , behind , his tow vehicle)
I went thru Ontario last month , ( first time since,3 years hence ) and , the customs guy , didn't even ask for my passport, just waived me on, when I told him I was going thru to Mi., to save miles , so , .go figure ?
