Heck no, I am proud to be an American and a Michigander, which is why I am against silly ideas of Michigan seceding from the US or the UP pulling out of Michigan.
You totally ignored my points against your claims for the Upper Peninsula pulling out of Michigan.
"No taxation without representation" was rhetoric without real meaning in 1776 used to inspire people without looking at things in reality. Factually the British offered us representation in Parliament - we turned it down. Factually Americans paid less taxes than people in England in 1776. Also, factually the Americans ran up a huge debt for the British government. You are using a slogan that was false rhetoric in 1776 to strike up some of what I thought was more false rhetoric for the UP leaving Michigan.
I pointed out a few reasons why I thought your logic for the UP pulling out of Michigan was misguided... Perhaps you could comment on those points instead of pretending like I am anti-American:
1) In the Michigan Legislature, the districts are carved out by population and in fact the upper peninsula gets slightly more represenation per capita than the lower peninsula.
2) Your same arguments for the upper peninsula getting taxed unfairly could be made for practically half of the lower peninsula counties.
3) I would be willing to bet that per capita the lower peninsula pays out a higher rate in taxes as that is where most of the biggest companies and wealthiest people are based in our state.
