That was over a year ago.
It happened, but the article is biased; the preacher and his group were provocatively and deliberately disrupting an annual Arab festival, shouting scripture and carrying a pig head on a stick. There was a history of the festival being visited by what the Detroit Free Press calls "aggressive" groups of Christian missionaries whose only reason for visiting the festival was to spread anti-Muslim message.

Not that it excuses what happened, not at all! I personally am still unsure why nobody was charged with mayhem or assault.
Anyway, it's not all of Michigan. I've been to Dearborn quite a few times and walked around, eaten at a couple of very fine restaurants and have never had anything thrown at me. It's usually a pretty safe place, I think. I would not attend an Arab festival, though.

Somewhat different slant from the report in the OP's link, which doesn't mention the pig head and the yelling at festival-goers. Google actual news sources and they all pretty much report the missionaries as provacateurs.
I imagine if a Muslim group showed up at, say, a county fair and started burning the US flag, marching around with upside-down-crosses or yelling at festival-goers about the wonders of sharia law, the outcome wouldn't be very peaceful....

I've lived near Dearborn for decades and have never had or seen a problem with the Muslims. I see them when I go shopping all the time. I've never had any reason to be afraid or uneasy around them. Most of the Muslims came here to have a place where they can live in peace. The ones I see go out of their way to be polite and unobtrusive. other news sources.
