That being said, my list for today is below, but it would change depending on the weather and season.

1. Birmingham
2. Chelsea
3. Midland
4. East Lansing
5. Ann Arbor
6. Frankenmuth
7. Brighton
8. Gladwin
9. Grosse Pointe (all of them)
10. Interlochen
Today (after thinking about it, and unable to edit the original) I would drop #8 and #9, and replace them with Rochester and Holland.

Frankenmuth and Interlochen are interesting choices. Is there any kind of employment base in either? Other than hospitality?

Interlochen is a great little town, but I think most people work in Traverse City.

For sure. But plannine framed it as places that you could totally survive within its borders. Frankenmuth actually has a big insurance company, now that I think about it. And a Meijer.

I was just curious about the thought process.

The list ranks Key West as fourth, I think it is number one. Marquette is not even recolonized on some lists....strange the sun set from sun set point in our city park has to be the best in Michigan!

AS far as North America , the shore of Great Slave Lake at Hay River, NWT. takes the cake as the best! ( My list )
