No. But for mental exercises, it is interesting to imagine how Michigan would be if it was part of Canada. (not that I am in favor of that although I love Canada deeply)

I can't imagine that happening anytime soon. If I recall correctly, Michigan receives about $20 billion a year from the federal government. A few people may not care about the money because they're rolling in dough or literally living off the land, but most people are not going to be pleased losing out on that cushion. And what for? To create an environment where even more people die because of a lack of necessities?

I love these types of stories because they ignore the one big fact: a state cannot secede from the Union. It's not legal, and it won't be tolerated. Even if it did have the support of people, have people forgotten this little thing called the Civil War that established for all time the perpetuity of the Union? Once you're in, you're in.
