Living between Mt. pleasant & Lansing
Me and my family will be relocating to Michigan very soon from dallas,Tx. l will be working four days in Mt. Pleasant and one day of the week in Lansing. Where are the best areas to live considering good schools for fourth and seventh graders plus good neighborhood town homes or condos or houses to rent. emails to me are okay too. Thanks.

Many Options Along 127
I live in Lansing, but think you will be happier in one of the smaller communities closer to Mt. Pleasant. Most have good schools, are safe and probably have a lot of empty houses that haven't aren't selling. (I would recommend renting to anyone thinking of moving to Michigan right now as the prices are dropping statewide and will likely continue to fall for the next year or so.)
Closer to Lansing is St. Johns, and then closer to MP are Alma, Ithaca, and St. Louis.

I know someone over in Alma and they LOVE the town. Sounds like very progressive schools and still a down home type feel to the town.

I would relocate to Mt. Pleasant. The other towns around the area are very small, without much to do in them. People from Ithica, St. John's, St. Louis and even Alma usually head into Mt. Pleasant for their entertainment, or Lansing if they're making a day of it.
Mt. Pleasant will be your best bet for your kids. Lansing is just huge, and you're going to have to deal with a lot of "traffic" since it's the state Capital and Michigan State University is located in East Lansing. Although Mt. Pleasant is home to Central Michigan University, it's not nearly as big and the population really decreases during the summer. Mt. Pleasant has more of a tight-knit community background. The residential areas of town are really cute and well established. There is a lot to do there for adults, the parks are GREAT, and the schools are really nice too. The historic downtown area is pretty cute too. There are a lot of diffirent restaurants and shopping options are opening up everywhere. Although there's no actual mall, there is one in Midland about a half hour away.
Mt. Pleasant is also home to the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. It's owned by the Chippewa tribe, and it's a fun thing to do every now and then for your "night out". They get some pretty big performers/entertainers there too. Your children will also get wonderful exposure to the Tribe and it's history since it plays such a big roll there.
Overall, I'd have to say my vote is for Mt. Pleasant!
