Default U.S. News & World Report "America's Best High Schools"

Here are the Michigan results, listed by county (select specific county in list on bottom left hand side of screen):

Best High Schools Search - US News and World Report

This is the first annual High School ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

It gets kind of confusing when comparing results with other high school rating sites online...for example, a high school in West Michigan that ranks in the bottom 30% of Michigan achievement test scores received a bronze medal (top 10% in the nation) in the U.S. News rankings, yet multiple other high schools in various counties that ranked in the top 90 to 100% of the Michigan state achievment did not make the medal listings.

Example

Greaterschools.net rating 3 out of 10 Muskegon High School:

Muskegon High School - Muskegon, Michigan - MI - school overview

U.S. News & World Reports gives the same school a bronze medal:

Muskegon High School: Best High Schools - USNews.com

Extra kudos to anyone who solves this riddle...

It has to do with the criteria....the U.S. News & World Report formula favors schools and their resources for the underprivileged, at risk students.

Glad to see at least one Flint school on that list.

Oh that list is such crap... Whittemore-Prescott H.S. in Iosco county gets a bronze but Tawas is not even on there??? I wouldn't send my kids to Whittemore-Prescott if I had to! I'd home school them first! Look carefully at the criteria before you use that list as any indicator for a decent school. The state-issued school report cards just were posted in our local news and Whittemore-Prescott High received an F in English and D's in Math, Science and Social Studies for a composite grade of D-. They didn't meet the Adequate Yearly Progress requirements, either. (To give you a comparison of another Iosco county school... Tawas High was at least C's and B's and met the AYP requirement).
