That is just another reason why I suggest michigan sucks and people need to move I mean if any of you have kids would you want your kid to be in the house all day?or want him outside in the park playing tag and running around enjoying their youth?

And look at michigan's capitol city, what kinda capitol city is lansing?Lets face its a small city where nobody wants to visit how much say lets visit michigan?lol the nightlife in this state suck(MSU and detroit are ok)but really this is why michigan has a low tourist population, michigan has nothing to offer other states have alot to offer, nevada has las vegas(love that city and I visit it every summer),california has los angeles, etc texas has houston, michigan has what?detroit?Detroit really doesnt have much stuff to offer for anyone to visit or be interested in even thinking about moving here.

Also its VERY VERY hard to sale a house/home in michigan my friend has been trying to sale his home for quite sometime but no luck because nobody is really trying to move to michigan or live in michigan(who can blame them).
are you frickin' kidding me? for one thing, if you're kids can't handle playing outside in the snow they are wimps. i used to play outside in the snow for hours upon hours at all ages. no, you can't ride your bike in the snow, instead you can go sledding or ice skating. what kind of spoiled society is this when a kid can't find something else to do? dear god.

michigan has nothing to offer? where did you live? in a crackhouse in detroit? have you ever been to even 1 state park on the great lakes? the sleeping bear dunes? mackinac? yeah if vegas is your thing then no you wouldn't like michigan.....its not the kind of state where you just sit on your a*s for entertainment, its more for adventurous outdoors type people who like nature, beauty and REAL.

yes its hard to sell a home in michigan right now....it hasn't always been that way. in case you haven't heard michigan is going through a down time right now.....DUH. i can't believe i even responded to your post....shame on me.

Now, if that wasn't an understandable and to the point explaination, well, "jamespeterson", Michigan has no hope for you.
Why don't you move to beautiful "So, California"?
Now that's where you will learn the true meaning of "life in the 21 century".

Michigan is a struggle to live and work in. as a child it may be fun but you do not have to get up go to work in the cold. scrape off the ice and repete this operation when comming home. and for the next 6 months.
As a child I see many who play in the mud also, but when I grew up I put away childish things.
I wonder why you do not see multimillion dollar old folks retirement homes around the state?
Michigan is a state that was built on industry, we have lost this industry, and loose more every day.
When jobs are getting very hard to find and you still have to fight the cold and rising taxes, try to keep up with heating you home in sub 0 weather, it sucks all the fun out of that white crap.
If I were not right the ski resorts would not have been so slow last year.
I still have an exgirlfriend I keep in touch with and she was put on part time in boyne MT because of how slow it was. also she has a couple of friends who work at one of the local rest. in Petoskey and they said business was off 30% to the neg.
Not a good sign and I think that this winter will make last year look like a walk in the park.

We just left Michigan because of jobs. We moved to North Carolina because my husband found a really good job. We would have stayed if we could. It has been 3 weeks and I miss Michigan. Here it is so hot that kids don't play out much during the day. Being cold isn't fun and being too hot isn't either. My guess this winter we won't be as cold as those that are from here as we are used to really cold. For us it was where could we support our family and at this time that just isn't Michigan

That's the thing. The south is not "warm" - it's lousy stinking-sweaty-horrible burn-yourself-to-skin-cancer-hot for up to 6 months a year in a number of locations. I'll take Michigan's far-milder summers and lovely winters over that ANY day.

You know, I really don't get all the crying people that complain about the winter here - it's not like it's Siberia, and if anything, winters here have become increasingly milder over the years. Overall, I see nothing bad about the season at all, other than when I have scrape ice off my car at 7 am...that part is annoying, but the rest is not only fine, I actually look forward to it (I love a variety of seasons). I just dress up and head out like I always do, and enjoy nature's air conditioning while I'm at it.

I love Michigan's weather. Seriously. The summer is just about perfect. Fall is spectacular, crisp, colorful, and Michigan is pretty much the most amazing place to experience the season. Winter is cold but I love snow and ice skating and x-country skiing sooooo....I like winter. And spring is...short.

I couldn't hack it down south. No way. The heat is blistering and the winters are clammy.

Just curious; how bad are the winters in SW Michigan? I was born in Colorado and lived there most of my life so far until recently. We are moving the end of August to Michigan. Does anyone know what winter is like there compared to Colorado?
