I agree with darstar, try Hickory Corners/Richland over Augusta or Galesburg. In Battle Creek, I would stick with the Lakeview or Harper Creek Areas as far as school systems go. Gull Lake Schools in Hickory corners beats all of Battle creek schools as far as academics go. Gull Lake , the lake itself is one of the best lakes in the country and has properties owned by some minor celebrities. ( Tim Allen, Jason Newsted formally of Metallica, Tom Wopat, etc..)

Contacted realtor, sale is already pending on that home, owell. Good to know that area is there though. It will only be nine miles from my husbands job . I do see a nice house in Galesburg, buts it out of my price range. Will keep it saved in case it drops some.

What about three rivers? What is it like there? I see it is 32 miles from galesburg, but thats about the same my husband now drives through heavy Phoenix traffic, can't be as bad as that.

Looking and see a darling home there for sale that I just love. We are only approved for 100k loan, so I consider formost school reports, as my major decision factor where to live, since I have a 7 year old daughter. I see three rivers school is rated 7 out of 10, so not bad. A home in kalamazoo I love, but the school that is assigned to it,
has only a 4 out of 10. It looks like most homes under 100k are in areas with lower performing schools, so moving out further from hubbies job will be what we have to do. She is a straight A student in a school that ranks
94 percent for nation overall, so want to keep her challenged. Having a heart conditon, I also have to consider being close to a hospital. Is there one around three rivers?

Thanks

Thumbs up three rivers

hi -
i live in kalamazoo and am looking to move to three rivers/mendon.
for 100k, you can buy a lot of house in that area. three rivers is a best kept secret, good schools, parks, etc... yes it has a hospital. the best hospitals are in kalamazoo, but three rivers can transport you up there in an emergency. three rivers does have three rivers and about a dozen lakes. the downtown is classic small town americana with cool little shops. they also have a section by the highway with some major retailers, too. the town is growing but keeping it's small town feel. there's lots of beautiful countryside... it's thirty minutes to kalamazoo and fifteen to amish country. commutes are not bad, traffic minimal, relaxing drive, winter can be a bear, though. ... hope this helps!

I don't think $100K gets you much in Three Rivers. It would either be really small or old and/or rundown. And Three Rivers has some really run down areas.
Is 15 minutes to Amish country a selling point?
