It happened again tonight, at a red light. Unbelievable! Fortunately it was fairly lightly, and we had a trailer hitch on the back as of a few days ago. We are fine, and so is our car. Not so much the other car's front bumper. Thank you, trailer hitch.

Hopefully that'll teach 'em a lesson!

Yes, that and having to pay their deductible. That was an expensive mistake for them to have made, assuming that they are going to get it fixed. Hopefully it will teach them to keep their eyes on the road from now on.

Honestly, I'm pretty casual with my blinker. If no one's behind me I don't normally use it especially if I'm making a right. If I'm making a turn and there's another turn I have to make immediately after, I don't normally use it for the 2nd turn. I was driving with my dad one time and he barely used it at all.

However, I'm a pretty cautious driver to begin with and I don't usually change lanes unless I for sure know there's no one in my blind spot. I also try to change lanes when I have tailgaters behind me which doesn't make any sense. Why don't they just change lanes or slow down? You aren't going to lose gas by letting off the pedal.

It's because when people are holding a phone talking or texting (almost everyone) they're not as inclined to use what was a free hand to hit the turn signal lever.

I hear that the auto companies are working on "collision avoidance" systems. It can't happen fast enough!

How does that work? Does an alarm sound if you are getting too close to someone, similar to the back up warning system that a lot of cars have now? That would be nice. Nerve wracking, maybe, but nice.

Yes, it would work similarly to the back up warning system, and would also apply the brakes automatically.

I almost get run off the road every time someone ignores the lane ends signs and merge at the very end when they could have gotten over at least 600+ feet ago.

Remember the blitz the state police did with pulling over tailgaters? Perhaps they should do a blitz of pulling over on these type of dangerous people.
