Default I am from Union City

I Love Union City. It is a very diverse city for it's size. I work at the school and so does my husband. As for the person that replied about it being racist, I disagree. My grandsons live with me, and they are Black, afro american (or whatever correct version you prefer). We are not hung up on race, or how much you earn. We are working as a community to better our youth here so that they can compete in a global world. All 7th through 12 grade students have their own laptop provided to them by the school. We have a great staff and administration. My grandsons are very happy here and do not want to return to Detroit. Most people in this community work in Coldwater or Battle Creek. We are a community that is small and we know each other personally. Some do not like that kind of atmosphere. This is a very caring town. We do have low incomes here as well as in other small towns. I would say check out the neighbor hood that you are thinking of moving into. If you don't want to know your neighbor then find a somewhat country home. There are a lot of good people in this town, and the schools are committed to the students and their education.

I've lived in UC all my life, 34 years, and if you don't mind a short drive to work, shopping, etc., then it's a wonderful and more affordable housing option. A few of my favorite things about living here are the safety, I have NEVER locked the doors to my house, I don't even know where the keys are, call me foolish but I haven't done it in over 10 years and nothing has ever happened, because of the "neighborly" we all look out for each other and that provides the safety and security. I'm also a jogger and I like to go at night, try doing that in some neighborhoods in Battle Creek, and again I've been doing it for 10 years and the worst thing that happened was a dog coming after me. The schools are great, there is busing for all kids regardless of age and because of the small community I know most of the teachers and bus drivers personally. I don't know any different never having lived anywhere else but for me you can't put a price on feeling safe in your own home, even when you're not in it.

Coldwater is ok if you don't mind all the muslims. One of the most heavily muslim populated cities in Michigan. I believe only Dearborn has a higher muslim population. I'd take Union City over Coldwater.

Please....do they bother people that much?

Muslims live in a concentrated area in South Coldwater near the Lincoln school area. I grew up in Coldwater and never, ever had any problems with the middle eastern folks. They are hard-working family people that are quiet and don't look for or cause trouble.

Yep. That's what they always say..nice, quiet, hardworking, never bothered anybody. I think that's how they described the 911 bunch.
