Yeah, I don't trust weather.com all the time, but it was the only place I could find a 10 day forecast. It says Detroit is cloudy and 44.

My thermometer says 41, but it's definitely not clear and we're not getting any snow right now.

We moved here (EGR) from outside the area. Within 6 months we had a whole host of new friends, with similarly-aged children.

It's a close-knit, community..but there's plenty of room for new people. In fact, to be honest, it's turning over right now as people who moved here 30+ years ago move out.

New families are moving in to most houses that go up for sale (though there are plenty of other people living here...retired, families with older children, etc.).
We have lived in Hudsonville for quite a few years. The schools are the best and the small town life is every where. We are just minutes away from GR and Holland which is of course the beach mecca. We are centrally located and minutes away from every popular place you can imagine. Here you are surrounded by the fresh farm stands in the summer and all the skiing and sledding for the winter. East GR is fine but you are closer to the airport and all the popular landing patterns of all those big jets at the airport. Plenty of nice homes and some pretty inexpensive condos being built here. We are growing by leaps and bounds.
