Hello.
We are possibly relocating to the Port Huron area and are looking for some input. We are looking for a smaller community outside the city to live. We have done quite a bit of research and have come up with St. Clair or Marysville as possibilities. We are looking for a 30 minute or less commute to PH, good schools, low crime rate, quiet family friendly neighborhoods, access to shopping. We would like something that's not too small (Lexington was too small) but not Port Huron size either. It's hard to gauge things looking online so some local input would be very helpful.
Thank you!

St. Clair, Marysville or Richmond are all "sister cities" - play each other in sports -all great places to raise a family.

I find Marysville rather sterile, though it's a perfectly safe/good suburb of Pt Huron, being the closest city. Great schools/sports. St. Clair feels more small town, it's a discrete city (doesn't blend in from Pt. Huron) and has all the perks of being on the water. Largest freshwater boardwalk in the world, canals, little downtown shopping center. Richmond is like St. Clair but without the water - historic downtown, Victorian homes, well kept up yards.

As far as coffee, The Raven in Port Huron beats Sue's Coffee Shop in St. Clair - but both are stellar. The YMCA in Pt Huron just north of the Marysville border is world class, complete with indoor pools/water slides etc.

Congrats on the move.
