Default Retirement property southern Michigan

We are central Michigan natives thinking of looking for retirement property (10-20 vacant acres) in Lenawee, Jackson or southern Ingham counties. We are on target to retire in three years and would be buying now and building a home when we retire. Seeking opinions on pros and cons of these locations beyond raw data (crime stats, median income, etc.) such as liveability, attitudes, friendliness, government services, etc. and which areas you wouldn't recommend. Thanks!

Default Thanks for your replies

Thanks, Michigansnowflake and Jasmin71! Northern Michigan and the UP are
indeed beautiful. I've lived 52 of my 56 years in Michigan and have enjoyed
many vacations "up north." My husband is a field auditor for the state so we
still make the trip north from time to time. For living, however, we need
to be near medical facilities and an airport and I prefer a bit less snow.
As a librarian, I've done the hard research already and now we are looking
for personal impressions, opinions and guidance for our target area.

Msrhythm
