Yes
There are cities of over a million that have a lower crime rate than that.

Default TY Blue Grass/ Thinking about the UP.

TY Blue grass Fever. I like Grand Haven so far from what I've read (need more research). Does any one know what kind of jobs are on the UP? My Husband works for JOB Hunt over the road, so I know he won't have a problem continuing what he is doing now. But for me a PTA (Physical Therapist Assistance), I mean there are cities with a small town feel. Do they even have Rehab centers? ONE MORE THING!!!! THIS BRIDGE. I know it snows a great deal....... putting it lightly. I read that sometimes this bridge is UN-PASSABLE!!!!!!!! If we get snowed in and can't pass the bridge is there a 24 walmart, Walgreen's or any thing up there that will take my mind off all the snow and will my Husband be able to get to me or I to him.

Somebody mentioned Three Rivers..I see the forgot to mention the crime and drugs there. If you are looking way out of the city limits then you should be ok..but anything in city limits is basically a dump.

I am from the UP. The bridge does not get closed down very frequently. Maybe once a year? If it does close down it won't likely affect you as it gets closed down for like 1 day. It is very safe. I have no problem driving across it, even in snow. They take care of it very well.

As for jobs, well with as much drinking as we Yoopers do I bet we have as many rehab centers as we do bars LOL. Just kidding.. Yooper joke. But yes there are rehab centers. I know for sure of one in Marquette... actually know people who have ben admitted there. Marquette is the biggest city at around 20,000 people (not including the surrounding areas). I have a friend who works at the Mayo Clinic who is taking a job at the hospital there. So that is the first place I would look. You could also look in Sault Ste. Marie, but I don't care for that area much. Marquette is wonderful, though.

The UP is not like prehistoric times... you will find things to do, places to go... Walgreens... as long as you live near the more populated areas, like Marquette, Escanaba, Sault Ste. Marie.

Good luck!

TY! I have checked out Ann Arbor and they have 50.3% of the population that has never married and 38.5% that is now married. With that many singles is there a lot of partying? And they only average about 10-15 inches of snow a year. That's not enough for me! I live in Indiana now and in a couple of days it will be thanksgiving. The weather for thanksgiving is 60 degrees and sunny. That's not very fall or winter, I don't like it .At the rate were going we won't even have a white Christmas. I have got to have at the least over 20 inches of that beautiful white blanket the Lord made. But I still don't want to much to the point I get snowed in.

Fraser is one of the safest cities in Michigan along with one of the best public school systems.

Moose, Ann Arbor is a college town (U of M), which is probably where that high number of singles you're seeing comes from.
