With all the college singles. Is there lots of clubbing and party's? I remember how it was when I was in college. And by the way, Fraser does have a low crime index but the are only 14 miles from DETROIT, and they only get about 11 inches of snow in winter. That's not enough. I love the fall and winter. And my 6 "8" 295 lb. Abominable Snowman AKA The Yeti and others have called him my Husband, won't be happy if he has to hear it one more time, that we don't get enough snow. So I would really like a place that gets at least over 20 inches of snow, if not comes really close. So what are the snowiest, safest/best school places to live in MI and still with a very good PTA job? Are there any????

Fraser and the rest of SE Macomb County isn't as safe as it used to be.
The social scene in "Caro, MI 48723" largely revolves around meetings of the Michigan Militia. ![]() |

Going back to the previous page and first couple of posts....
Forest Hills Schools actually encompasses about a 70 - 80 square mile area, and Ada is just a small part of it. We live in the district in Grand Rapids Township, Northeast of I-96 and the East Beltline. Wonderful place to live, awesome schools, and only about 10 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids with museums, some of the best restaurants in the State, the arena, parks, lots of new construction, you name it. The Forest Hills area is also slated to get a large lifestyle center, with a slew of new stores to the area (including PF Changs and Crate & Barrel). If you can find a home in your price range, do it. Also check out East Grand Rapids if you like older homes and a very walkable community. |

You really should consider Charlotte, MI which is only 18 miles SW of Lansing.
It is a very nice city of about 8,500. I have an excellent home for sale there right now too. |

Of course, the higher up in Michigan you get, the more likely you are to find snow. Iron Mountain is known for skiing, so you're likely to find plenty of snow there. You might consider Marquette, another N. Penninsula town. It's a "population center" in the north, and, while I don't know about hospitals, etc., with your health field qualifications it shouldn't be hard to find work. I suggest you check out a job website called Indeed.com to search for jobs in your field. It's free, and a good search engine site.
I had to chuckle a little at the questions about the Mackinaw Bridge. Yes, it's safe, and as the roadway between the penninsulas, well maintained in snowy weather. But there was that story years back about the woman who was driving her Yugo car over the bridge when a big wind blew her off into the water below. I think that spoke more to the road worthiness of the Yugo than the safety of the span, but this was just too tempting a lead-in to miss commenting on this legend, which, yes, is a true story. |

We used to live in Howell. LOVED IT!!! Great schools, low crime and easy access to expressways.

An index is controlled for population ... that's the point of having an index. When you see a huge index rate for such a small city, I would be extremely wary of setting foot anywhere inside said city limits. I've been through Muskegon. It has a very nice location, and is nice to look at during the day if you ignore the "DON'T ABUSE DRUGS AND HAVE CHILDREN OUT OF WEDLOCK!" billboards (classy, Michigan, classy ). I might have a different impression at night, considering that I was vacationing nearby with family, and said "hey, Muskegon looked great earlier today, why don't we check it out at night?" and they were less than enthusiastic. ![]() I was once offered a job in Muskegon, and turned it down. The company facility there went out of business shortly thereafter. |
