What an uplifting post!

I'm looking out my window and everything is covered in a thick blanket of snow (I'm in Kalamazoo). It's gorgeous. I will be able to go ice skating tomorrow. Life is good...even in winter.

Life IS good. It's 4 below and still managed to take my doggie, Joey, for a brisk walk this morning. I just wish we had snow but then again, can't wish my life away.

I live in Petoskey, a northern LP town on Lake Michigan. From Detroit originally, but moved south to Texas and then Georgia when I was 12, and just made it back to Michigan this year.

Michigan, especially up north, is a jewel. I feel like the most fortunate person on earth to have been able to return here permanently. This is a magical place to me, always has been.

The snow at my place right now is breathtakingly gorgeous. I have a bank of snow stretching halfway to the ground coming down over my facade outside the kitchen window. The trees and shrubs are all covered with thick snow. The icicles are spectacular also! Took a drive to Traverse City down 31 last week and took in the fantastic rural winter landscapes alongside mighty Lake Michigan........the cherry trees are all asleep beneath winters blanket. There is nothing like it! Have close to 2 feet of snow in my yard now, and 3-5 more inches coming tonight!

I revel in the majesty of the seasons up here........each one has such a distinct, wonderfully flavorful personality of its own.

Time for a good, warm cup o' joe, while I wait for the flakes to arrive later - then it's outside for a brisk winter days stroll.........I am truly thankful to live in such a special place!

One nice thing about this time of year, aside from the picturesque herds of woolly mammoth sweeping across the parking lot, is that I get to make my Famed Cabbage Soup in the slow cooker.

Business is brisk and our agency unexpectedly got an extra $200,000 from the state, enabling us to help more people with whatever they need.

The embezzlement case against a certain party I lived and worked with is moving ahead at last.

Excellent! I actually haven't used my snowblower yet this year. The snow we've had recently in GR has been so light that I've just been enjoying shoveling it. But I'm also someone who enjoys mowing the lawn (bringing order to chaos I guess).

I can't believe nobody's mentioned that the price of gas in MI is currently BELOW $3/gal.
