I Live in the greater Metro Detroit area and I have had the pleasure to work out in AA so I know some of the area a little bit and I assure you its not as big as you think and I personally think its a great place to raise a family. Like some one said before if you are uncomfortable with the price of AA, Dexter is a good choice. Also you can look into Pittsfield Township too (NOTE: I only worked there so I do not know about the houses in Pitt.). Also IN Ann Arbor State street is like the main artery for the town and Briarwood mall is a good mall that have most national stores, if not the next exit going west ( I wanna say Saline exit?) has the other stores like Best buy and target. I wish that I could work back out there again. that town was WAY laid back then any of the cities closer to Detroit.

Default Chelsea

I grew up in Chelsea Michigan. What a great town to grow up in. The schools are great, there is a lot of community support with the schools (sports, arts ect). It is a very safe town and has a lot of charachter. Dexter is another town that is simular.
