I have accepted a new job and my family and I will be moving to somewhere around Canton, MI. This year my son will be a Sophomore in high school, so we're looking at the communities that attend the Plymouth-Canton Schools. We won't be purchasing a house until we sell our house in Ohio, but we want to have our temporary housing in the community where we plan on buying a house. We want a house with character, 3Bedroom+, 2Bath+, at least 1700 SF between $150,000-$250,000. Which community(ies) will offer us the Plymouth-Canton Schools and the best opportunity to find the house we want? Your advice is appreciated.

Plymouth would have the home you are looking for, but you are likely priced out of there with your requirements. I would look in Canton.

There's an area in Canton where new houses are built to look traditional, though the price range is probably double your budget.

Neo-Traditional Neighborhood | Cherry Hill Village HOA

Otherwise, most of Canton (and the school district as a whole) in your price range will be rather typical contemporary and plain. Most homes in that range seem to be built in the 70s and likely have had few updates since then.

In Canton, you'll find homes that meet your description in the Eastern half, but they'll all be above 200k. Like the other guy said, you'll get priced out in Plymouth.
