There pick up games that I have heard about both in Marquette and Iron Mountain. I know some guys that play but I don't play. I was in Marquette today and there are a number of neighborhood rinks seeing some action. The place to check might be Lakeview Arena. What does "CED" stand for? Computer??

Consolidated Eletrical Dist. they are called "All-Phase" in Michigan though. CED owns them, but All-Phase has kept the name.. Thank you for the info. I'll have to check it out...

They will be hiring gradually as the expansion continues. They won't be hiring 50 people at once. That is where my fiance works. But, don't expect to make a WHOLE bunch if you apply there. The work can be hard and the pay isn't the best....BUT, it's a job

Don't worry about Marquette. You may not get very good jobs, but living expenses is pretty cheap in the UP. The Western UP is the best area to live because you have more infrastructure and more employment than the Eastern UP. I live in the Eastern part and there is lots of break ins and general destruction of public property. But, you do not have anything for people to do except to drink and hang around the town. I live downtown and have no problems, but two streets over have issues.
Its not big city problems, but general issues with growth that Michigan is having issues with.

The Portside??? Ew. Definitely not the best restaurant in Marquette and very smokey.
There are plenty of good restaurants in Marquette, but not Portside. Try Elizabeth's Chophouse, the UpFont, the Vierling, Water Front...

Add Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery! The old "Pub" on Third St. is now "Stucko's" and decent casual. There are a few others......but, not as many as you might think for a city of that size.

Yes, you don't want to move to Marquette if you don't like cold and snow lol. As far as high crime.....that's just not true! It's a beautiful town and a great place to live. My daughter spent the last 6 months there and plans to move back in the fall.
As far as prices, yes, the UP is expensive. I know the gas there is probably the highest in the state.

Last check...$3.799 Monday for gas in Marquette. Might have gone down as it did today in Iron Mountain. $3.619 No crime spree, but maybe a drive off....
