Diamondgirl, look up this guy's other recent posts. You will see why you do not need to pay any attention to him.

If you have a job, this is a great place to live.

If you have a job it is good for now. but it is also true that Michigan is not doing well economically and is getting worse. I know of many people who have move out of the state because of how bad things are getting. I would not pay attention to people who are just mad. but I would not listen to people who have their heads in the clouds either..
I would defiantly not buy a home in Michigan unless you did not care about property values for a very long time.

Wow! That is a lot to think about. I appreciate everyone's candor. I realize the country is suffering right now, and it is not just Michigan.
But generally Canada follows whatever is happening in the US, so it won't be long before we are suffering too. That is why it is possibly a good time to move....take the money and run kind of thing. Hopefully things will improve in both markets....I just lost a ton of money that was invested in American business, but I am not ready to pull out just yet. It is a troubled time for all, but getting all worried and depressed about it won't make it better.

If I move down to Michigan at least it will be because I have researched the pros and cons (or exhausted them). One thing I know for sure tho...the people are great!! Thanks everyone!!

This too will pass. If hubby has a great (secure) job go for it. The people are great and as you say yourself it is a beautiful state!

JUST DO IT!

Actually they are RRSPs and are tied in until 2013. Unfortunately I have little say in what they are invested in. I just noticed in my portfolio that the ones that invested in US companies have lost at least 10% in the last half. Overall I am down 11%.
But I won't worry....yet.

There are some people here who like to think you positevely because they got good jobs or have a business or a pricey house that can not sell. The truth is America`s auto companies are done for good and America exports crops only ,but it also exports manufactured goods mafiosi style.Anyways, none of this helps the majority of the people as it leaves them unemployed.Hence the dramatic drop in house prices and people can`t get out of this hole.Matter of fact many people can`t afford to move just like those who got hit by katrina.A lot of things will happen in the near future and the arab world stands to lose along with american oil companies and american carmakers who fell in their bed.Right now,Japan has already made significant advances,so significant that i don`t need to buy gas.Germany and the rest are just improving so that leaves me thinking that the Japs are way too superior in tech and electronics.
Michigan will be just a frozen waste land, well not attractive to live at all.Take a look at Detroit...it is one the worst slumps i have ever seen in my life.
