Any job leads for renaissance woman in MI?
15 years experience & looking for part time, advanced to intermediate illustration/graphics web design position (Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks) in Lansing area. Laid off since fall 2007 and have taken on a cashiers job. So far can only find temporary, intern or starter wage jobs just a notch over minimum wage.
Also experienced in sign making by hand for three years as sign captain for major retail store or by computer graphics. Have professionally illustrated for major publishers such as McGraw Hill and Holt, Rinehart & Winston.
Experienced library assistant (MilCirc, Innopac) with reference, patron/book record input, and circulation experience.
Teaching experience in painting and drawing (by hand and computer aided) with middle school and high school kids. Teaching experience with older adults on beginning computer classes.
Graduate of Michigan State University with background in microbiology, plant physiology, and anthropology. Would also consider a research assistant position.
Organic gardener for 10 years specializing in raising tomato & pepper plants from seedlings. Urban gardener who has proudly destroyed concrete and asphalt for green space. At this point even assisting a family with household duties with similar talents and skills would be a breath of fresh air.

Check out Lansing Community College. You might be able to pick up some part-time work as an adjunct instructor (usually requires a master's degree but might not for computers), tutor, instructor for continuing ed/enrichment classes (reqs for these may be more flexible than for the academic classes), or library assistant.
Here in Muskegon, Muskegon CC is actively trying to expand its enrichment offerings. These non-credit courses can be a real cash cow for community colleges. Classes in art, gardening, and computers are regularly offered. If you've got an idea for a course that people will pay to take, and you have teaching experience, there may be someone at a community college continuing ed dept. who wants to hear from you.

thanks- anyone else with actual job tips?
Thank you and yes, I have had my resume and updated resume on file and have been replying to job postings for almost a decade to LCC, MSU, & Davenport, Lansing School District, East Lansing School District, etc! A friend I know was recently hired at LCC with a Phd.-
As far as enrichment courses go- great if you don't need a reliable week to week income. My bills are consistent and I need a job that is consistent. When I was younger and didn't need to rely on a week to week income these courses were great.
LCC & MSU only hire Library assistants with a library science background.
