Question Drop off places for children? Babysitter places?

I heard from a friend that in somes states they have places in malls or strip malls that you can leave your child at. As I understand it you leave them there and they play under supervision for a fee. You can leave them there while you run errands, go to a doctors appt. or go out to dinner. They stay open something like 7.00am - 12.00am. I really liked this idea and would love to use them.

Does anyone know if we have any here in Michigan?

If you do not want your children, you can just leave them at a fire station or police station.

All though my children try my patience at times I love them dearly!

When your new to town and don't have any relatives living around you it is nice to have someplace safe and fun to leave your child for a hour or two. So you can go to the doctor or something you can not take them to.

As any GOOD mother can tell you a Good safe babysitter is very valuable.

I take my kids to the doctor, haircuts, etc..

But otherwise, no I haven't heard of anything. What part of Michigan? There are a couple of health clubs in GR that if you are a member, they have drop-off times like that (but you have to be a member).

I have 5 small children so going to the doctors can be a problem.

Try a church. Join MOPS and if they do not have a program, start one.

What is MOPS??

I had the same problem when my adult children were little and I was new to a city. There was a local church that offered a drop in daycare. You could leave the children once a week for 2 or 3 hours for a small fee and they had a program for them. I haven't used one in years, nor have I heard of them anywhere lately.

Sometimes it is too difficult to take the children to an appointment and they would be safer and happier in a supervised area. Good luck with your search!

Maybe a shared babysitting agreement with someone in a similar position would work. Find another mother who wants a break now and then and have the kids in a playgroup with mothers taking turns.

(sittersearch.com) I have never used the site but you could check it out. It seems like it would be hard to leave kids with strangers but go with your gut. I was lucky to have people I trusted from my family.
